Kirsten Kasal, Class of 2027

Kirsten Kasal Kirsten was born and raised in Pearl City on the island of Oʻahu. Before DKICP, she attended University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where she completed her pre-pharmacy studies.

Kirsten currently serves as the Secretary for the Class of 2027, the Worthy Correspondent for the Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, the VP of Communications for the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), and the Secretary & Membership Committee Chair for the Hawaiʻi Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy & Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (HSSHP-AMCP). She is currently employed as an intern with CVS Longs Drugs.

Her favorite things about DKICP include the tight-knit community of students and faculty, as well as the many opportunities for field involvement and professional development. During her free time, she enjoys playing video games with friends and reading books.

Kamaha'o Kini-Lopes, Class of 2027

Kamaha'o Kini-Lopes Kamahaʻo was born and raised in Nānākuli, Hawaiʻi and moved to Kapolei on the island of Oʻahu where he currently resides. Prior to attending DKICP, he attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo for three years completing his Pre-Pharmacy prerequisites as a Chemistry major. During his undergraduate career, Kamahaʻo has conducted organic chemistry research across the country and also presented his research at the American Chemical Society Conference Spring 2023 in Indianapolis, IN.

Kamahaʻo currently serves as the Class of 2027 Class Liaison, President for Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔX) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, Secretary for Phi Lambda Sigma (ΦΛΣ) Leadership society, and Quiz Bowl/Journal Club Committee Chair for Rho Chi (⍴X) Honors Society . He is also an active member of the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO), and Hawaiʻi Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy & Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (HSSHP-AMCP).

One of Kamahaʻo’s favorite aspects of DKICP are the endless opportunities for students to network one on one with student pharmacists, faculty, and staff. He also appreciates the involvement with local community members to help enhance our learning and grow stronger ties to what Hawaiʻi island has to offer. When he's not studying, he enjoys fishing, spending time with friends, and working. He's always got a big aloha spirit, so feel free to reach out and ask him any questions that you may have.

Charlotte Powell, Class of 2027

Charlotte Powell Charlotte was born and raised in Corvallis, Montana. She attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biology.

Charlotte currently serves as the Patient Care VP for the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) and as a Scholastics and Professional Development Co-Chair for the Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity. She is also an active member of Hawaiʻi Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy & Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (HSSHP-AMCP).

Her favorite thing about DKICP is the supportive environment and the many opportunities to give back to the community. All opportunities from the school and the organizations lead to professional and personal growth. You can find her outside on a hike or at the beach in her free time.

Kara Yama, Class of 2027

Kara Yama

Kara was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi on the island of O‘ahu. Before her entrance into pharmacy school, she completed two years of Pre-Pharmacy coursework at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Kara currently serves as the President for the Rho Chi Honor Society and the Worthy Inner Guard (WIG) for the Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity.

One of her favorite aspects of DKICP includes the supportive community and encouraging environment of the students and faculty. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and getting Teapresso with friends.

Cruz Marin, Class of 2027

Cruz Marin

Cruz was born and raised in Redondo Beach, California. Prior to attending DKICP, he attended Redondo Union High School and the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo where he completed his pre-pharmacy prerequisites.

Cruz currently serves as the Operation Heart Co-Chair for the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), as well as the Professional Development/Scholastics Co-Chair for Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity. He also works as a pharmacy intern at CVS.

His favorite aspect of DKICP is the strong sense of community shared between students and faculty. He also appreciates the variety of leadership roles available and the many opportunities to give back to the community through DKICP's strong network and resources. In his free time, he enjoys going to the beach, spending quality time with friends, playing basketball and volleyball, and working out.

Jay Jay Libao, Class of 2028

Jay Jay Libao

Jay Jay was born and raised on the island of Guam. Prior to attending DKICP, he attended the University of Guam where he earned a B.S. in Chemistry.

Jay Jay currently serves as the Vice President of Finance for the American Pharmacist Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), President-elect for the Pacific Island Mobile Screening Clinic (PIMSC) under the organization Hawai’i Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy & Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (HSSHP-AMCP), and Class of 2028 Liaison.

One of his favorite aspects about the DKICP is the fellowship that students share with one another to promote an environment of growth and success. When not preparing for assessments or studying, Jay Jay enjoys driving the scenic roads of the Big Island, taking photos, trying new food places, and spending time with friends.

Dez Pagatpatan, Class of 2028

Dez Pagatpatan

Dez was born and raised in Waipahu, Hawaiʻi on the island of Oʻahu. Prior to attending DKICP, he attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where he earned his B.S. in Biosciences and Biotechnology.

Dez currently serves as the Worth Vice Counselor for the Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, Vice President of Membership for the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacist (APhA-ASP), and Vice President for the Class of 2028. He is currently employed as a Pharmacy Intern at Kaiser Permanente Hawaii and Queen’s Medical Center.

His favorite aspect of DKICP is the strong support system formed by his peers, faculty, and preceptors, who have played a key role in his academic development and personal growth throughout his pharmacy journey. Gemmy Alegre, Class of 2026

Gemmy Alegre Gemmy was born in Vigan City, Philippines and raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaiʻi. Prior to attending DKICP, she attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo for two years to complete her prerequisite coursework.

She is currently serving as the Operation Immunization for American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). She also serves as the DKICP Senator in the University of Hawai’i at Hilo Student Association (UHHSA) and is an active member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.

Gemmy’s favorite aspects of DKICP is the sense of community and support from both students and faculty members as well as the many opportunities for students to learn and grow outside of the classroom. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, reading, going to the beach, playing video games, and bodyboarding.

Zachary Minato, Class of 2026

Zachary Minato Zachary was born and raised in Mililani, Hawaiʻi on the island of Oʻahu. Prior to attending DKICP, he attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where he earned his B.S. in Biochemistry.

Zachary currently serves as the as the Worthy Chief Counselor for the Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, Activities Coordinator for the Class of 2026, and Quiz Bowl and Tutoring Chair for the Rho Chi Academic Honor Society in Pharmacy. He previously served as the Professional Development and Scholastics Co-Chair for Phi Delta Chi, the Operation Diabetes Co-Chair for the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), and the Historian and Webmaster for the Hawaiʻi Student Society of Health- Systems Pharmacy & Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (HSSHP-ACMP). He is currently employed as a Pharmacy Intern with Kaiser Permanente Hawaii.

His favorite aspect about DKICP is the supportive environment of the school and its organizations that help foster the development of the students both professionally and academically. When he is not studying, he enjoys playing video games, biking, and spending time with friends.

Kyrstin Vanic, Class of 2026

Kyrstin Vanic Kyrstin was born and raised in Kapolei, Hawaiʻi on the island of Oʻahu. Prior to attending DKICP, she attended Kamehameha Schools Kapālama and Chaminade University of Honolulu where she earned a B.S. in Biology: Cellular & Molecular.

Kyrstin currently serves as the Vice President for the Class of 2026, the Worthy Inner Guard for the Phi Delta Chi (ΦΔΧ) Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, and the President for the Phi Lambda Sigma (ΦλΣ) Pharmacy Leadership Society. She formerly served as the Worthy Correspondent for Phi Delta Chi, the Membership Committee Chair for the Hawaiʻi Student Society of Health- Systems Pharmacy & Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (HSSHP-AMCP), and the VP of Membership for the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). She is currently employed as a Pharmacy Intern at Pali Momi Medical Center and Safeway.

Some of Kyrstin’s favorite things about DKICP are the welcoming environment, the diversity, and the opportunities to grow as a Student Pharmacist and individual. During her free time, she enjoys dancing hula, watching a variety of movies and shows, and eating sweet treats.

Daniel Yee, Class of 2026

Daniel Yee Daniel Yee was born and raised in Elk Grove, California. He attended John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento, California and California State University, Chico where he earned a B.A. in Biochemistry.

Daniel currently serves as the International VP for the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) as well as the Co-Chair for Operation Immunization.

One of Daniel’s favorite things about DKICP is the number of opportunities available. Students are able to gain exposure to a variety of pharmacy settings within different types of communities. He also appreciates how supportive the whole administration is. Daniel believes that Hawaii’s scenery improves your mood and can help reduce stress. When he has free time, he enjoys hiking with friends, practicing martial arts, going to the movies, sightseeing, playing video games, snorkeling, and exploring the island.
