The Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy Scholarships

All UH Hilo the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy scholarship funds come from a variety of sources such as private donors, professional associations, and state and local business firms. The purpose of UH Hilo the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy scholarship program is to recognize and reward students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and have shown a commitment to leadership and community activities within the college.

Many awards also consider financial need. The scholarship awards imply the expectation of continued exceptional performance and leadership by the recipients in the years ahead. Scholarships are contingent upon the availability of funds and the continued commitment of our generous sponsors.

DKICP Wal-Mart Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have financial need, a minimum 3.0 GPA, a desire to enter community practice upon graduation and demonstrated evidence of leadership. Preference for this award will be for individuals who have achieved high academic standing over the past three years and have previous experience in community practice.

The amount of the scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

CVS Health Foundation Pharmacy School Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have an interest and commitment to practice in a retail pharmacy setting upon graduation. This scholarship will not be awarded twice to the same individual.

The number and amount of scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

Elwin and Valerie Goo Endowed Excellence Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. This scholarship is available to third year and fourth year students.

Grace Mizuko Miyawaki Pharmacy Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Preference is given to students who have graduated from a high school in Hawaii and demonstrates some degree of financial need.

The number and amount of scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

Haga Family Endowed Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Selection will consider both academic merit and financial need. Recipients must have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference is given to Big Island High School graduates.

The number and amount of scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

Hawaii Independent Pharmacies Endowed Excellence Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, be a graduate of a high school in the state of Hawaii and demonstrate financial need.

J.M. Long Foundation Pharmacy Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo and preference is given to students in their 2nd or 3rd professional year of study.

Recipients must have an interest in practicing in a retail community setting.

The number and amount of scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation Pharmacy Partners Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have an interest in pursuing a career in community pharmacy.

The number and amount of scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

Ron and Alice Taniguchi Endowed Scholarship in Pharmacy

Dr. Ronald Taniguchi and his wife Alice Taniguchi endowed this scholarship in 2013 to support third and fourth year student pharmacists at DKICP that are high school graduates from the neighbor islands of Kaua’I, Moloka’I and Lana’i.

Dr. Taniguchi capped a 40 year pharmacy career as a faculty member at DKICP, retiring in 2011.

UH Hilo College of Pharmacy Alumni Association Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and demonstrate a strong interest in participating in UHH DKICP Alumni Association activities and show leadership and community service that promotes the UH Hilo DKICP.

This award is available for second, third or fourth year students.

Walgreens Pharmacy Champion Award Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have demonstrated leadership, academic success and a commitment to championing pharmacy, healthcare and high- quality patient care in a community setting.

Walgreens Multilingual Scholarship

Recipient must be fluent in one or more languages in addition to English and actively involved in promoting and embracing collaboration across different cultural groups.

Aloha Shoyu DKICP Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need not necessarily as determined by federal guidelines, and must be graduates of a high school in the state of Hawaiʻi.

Safeway Scholarship

Scholarships are for full-time students who are pursuing a Pharm.D. degree at UH Hilo.

Recipients must have a demonstrated interest in retail pharmacy. Preference is given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or above.

The number and amount of scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

Que - Andrada Foundation Excellence in Geriatric and Global Health Endowed Scholarship

Recipient must be a student enrolling in their final year of study at DKICP and pursuing global health and/or geriatric health initiatives.

Mr. Nagakatsu Kumao Otsuka and Dr. Raymond Masashi Otsuka Memorial Scholarship

Recipients must be enrolled full-time as graduate or professional students, pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.

Edwin and Georgiana Kam Endowed Excellence Scholarship in Pharmacy

Recipient must be a graduate of a high school in the State of Hawai'i. Preference shall be given to recipients who demonstrate creative initiative and exceptional practices utilizing the skills of a student pharmacist to benefit a need in the community.
